Transfer Student Resources

The Louisiana Board of Regents has introduced Universal Transfer Pathways (UTPs) to enhance the transfer process for students transitioning from two-year to four-year public institutions in Louisiana. These pathways are designed to ensure that students' credits are fully transferable and applicable toward a bachelor's degree
Key Features:
-
60 Credit Hours: Each UTP comprises 60 credit hours of coursework that can be seamlessly transferred and applied toward the requirements of a BA or BS degree at any public four-year institution in Louisiana.
-
Associate Degree Alignment: The courses within each pathway satisfy the graduation requirements for an associate’s degree.
-
Credit Transfer Assurance: Students who complete a UTP and transfer to a four-year public institution will not be required to complete more than the total credits required for the BA or BS degree, minus the 60 credit hours earned in the transfer pathway.
-
Accelerated Credit Options: Credits can be earned through accelerated programs such as dual enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and College-Level Examination Program (CLEP).
The Board of Regents collaborated with over 600 faculty members to develop 24 initial UTPs, which were approved in December 2023. These pathways cover high-demand fields including Accounting, Art, Biology, Business (with subfields like Finance, General Business, Management, and Marketing), Communication, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Engineering (Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical), English, History, Kinesiology (Sport Management and Pre-Allied Health), Nursing, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, and Social Work. An additional 20 pathways are planned for development in 2024.
This initiative aims to improve student outcomes by reducing the time and cost associated with earning a bachelor's degree, thereby enhancing the overall academic experience for students across Louisiana
