Centenary College of Louisiana
- Centenary has added the following athletic teams this year - Competitive Cheer, Competitive Dance, Track & Field, Cross Country, and Men's Volleyball (Club ). We will be adding an ESports Team and STUNT Team for fall 2021.
- Centenary has an average of 94% acceptance rate into medical school over the past 5 years.
- Academic scholarships have increased to start at $10,000 and go up to $25,000/year. 100% of accepted students will qualify for an academic scholarship.
Delgado Community College
- The residency fee has been removed, out of state fees are no longer charged to non-residents.
- The Recruitment and Outreach Department has launched several virtual options and events that high school students and counselors will be able to utilize throughout the pandemic for everything they'll need for Delgado.
- Although still an option, students are not required to submit ACT scores or take a placement test in order to place into courses.
Dillard University
- Pre-Law Program - This interdisciplinary program aims to diversify the legal profession, and prepares students for law school by exposure to various law programs, offering LSAT prep, career shadowing and internships, mock-trial and debate teams, mentorship and a host of other opportunities.
- Nursing - Dillard University has the oldest accredited nursing program in the state of Louisiana. Our 2019 graduating cohort had a 100% NCLEX passage rate.
- Film - Dillard University is the only full undergraduate film program offered at an HBCU in Louisiana.
Fletcher Technical Community College
- Fletcher now offers Associate Degree programs in Geology and the Care and Development of Young Children

- LC will be moving from NCAA Div III to NAIA by the Fall 2021 semester. This will allow LC to offer academic scholarships to student athletes.

Louisiana Tech University
- Brand new for the Fall 2020 quarter, College of Liberal Art’s Music Industry major opened a state-of-the-art Recording Studio and Music & Media Lab, including a student run record label. Made possible in part through the generous donations of Leon “Kix” Brooks of Brooks & Dunn, this space includes Solid State Logic’s Origin, a 32- channel analog studio console for studio recording, mixing, and mastering. Louisiana Tech is the first university in the world, and one of only three places in North America, to own this advanced technology.
- By Fall 2021, a brand new baseball facility, soccer complex and softball complex will be complete, allowing our D-1 student athletes to compete at the top of their games.
- This February, Louisiana Tech promoted its very first African American female dean into the position of Dean of Inclusion Initiatives & Student Success. Under Devonia Love-Vaughn’s leadership, this fall will be the first year that a dedicated space for our LGBTQ community.
- Louisiana Tech now offers 5 undergraduate certificates designed to increase job opportunities for current and prospective students. Loyola University New Orleans
- Loyola University New Orleans is happy to announce we are piloting a test-blind admission process. Starting with the Fall 2021 application cycle, Loyola will not require a standardized test score for our admission application and we will not consider a test score, should a student choose to submit. Loyola will use the score to determine TOPS eligibility, but it will not factor your test score into your admissions decision.

Northwestern State University
- New and updated Academic program offerings and experiences - Through our Nationally ranked Computer Information Systems major, we now offer a Cyber Security concentration. Within the same College, our Hospitality, Management, and Tourism majors now get the chance to showcase their skills in the Columns Cafe, a restaurant space that entirely student run, from management to the back of the house. From culinary arts concentrations to travel and tourism, all students contribute in some capacity (when they're not studying or traveling abroad with their cohort). While HMT students are getting hands on experience, so are our Communication and New Media students. They took home a National Bronze Telly Award for our NSU TV production of news, sports, and entertainment production. We push our students to have real-world experience, as early as their freshman year.
- Call Me MISTER Program - Call me MISTER (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) addresses the critical shortage of minority male teachers in America’s classrooms. It's an initiative aimed at recruiting African American males to be teachers and mentors, particularly at low-performing schools. The first cohort of students will launch this Fall. Applications for Call me MISTER will be reviewed on a competitive basis each spring for consideration for cohorts that will begin each fall semester.
Preference will be given to graduating high school seniors; two-year community college transfers; and first-year college freshmen. Eligible candidates will be selected based upon their potential for teaching and their motivation for participation in the program.
Prospective Misters must be a minority male and come from an underserved, socioeconomically disadvantaged, and/or educationally at-risk community. They must major in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Health & Physical Education or Music Education and demonstrate record high scholastic achievement and participation in extra-curricular and community service activities.
Misters will benefit from financial assistance to help cover tuition and fees, instructional support and preparation for licensure exams, a cohort system for social and cultural support and leadership development. They will gain immediate exposure to a classroom environment and job placement assistance after graduation.
- Expanded Opportunities for Scholarships and Involvement - NSU's brand new, 4,000 square foot, E Sports Venue will be open this fall. There will be scholarship opportunities for all competitive E Sports Athletes. There are other opportunities to gain financial assistance through involvement with the Collegiate Fishing Team, President's Leadership Program, and even the CREW (Rowing) Team. NSU has also expanded our scholarship opportunities to now include numerous first generation scholarships, retention scholarships to help fill the gap between tuition and gift amounts, and new major specific scholarships in numerous content areas.
Nunez Community College

Southeastern Louisiana University
- 2 New Programs: Masters of Science in Integrated Science & Technology with a focus area in data science. This program is business friendly and designed for seasoned IT professionals. Students work closely with their data science faculty mentors, culminating in a student-driven thesis/research project directly related to an employer-based project. The program has online and convenient class schedules with 33 credit hours and degree completion in two years or less.
Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences. This degree prepares students to pursue a variety of career opportunities in public health, health care, population health and other health science related industries or graduate programs in occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, and physician assistant.
- New Student-Centric Hub on campus. Renovation on campus to create a new Student Lounge as a study and meeting space on campus that will house a significant number of academic classrooms, tutoring spaces for both individual in group experiences, plus a reestablished computer lab.
- Southeastern's Office of Admissions is offering new ways to communicate with students with a new website www.southeastern.edu/admissionslive. This website will allow students to sign up for webinars, view virtual tours, meet with admission & financial counselors virtually, as well view upcoming content on Admissions social media channels. Connect with students through social media and Zooms will allow students to learn while staying safe during this pandemic.

University of Louisiana at Monroe
- VCOM Medical School has officially opened on the Bayou, their inaugural class began July of 2020.

University of New Orleans
- For the upcoming Summer, Spring, and Fall 2021 semesters, UNO will conditionally admit students who meet the Louisiana Core 4 curriculum and 2.5 core GPA without standardized test scores.
- UNO now offers a bachelor of science in Urban Construction Management. The students graduating with this unique degree will specialize in urban residential and commercial planning, design, and sustainable construction management techniques.
